In response to Obama appearing on “60 Minutes,” where he downplayed Clinton’s private email server as not being a national security problem,
former FBI senior agent Ron Hosko stated that Obama was wrong to
discuss his opinion of the matter while it is still being investigated.
“Injecting politics into what is supposed to be a fact-finding inquiry leaves a foul taste in the FBI’s mouth and makes them fear that no matter what they find, the Justice Department will take the president’s signal and not bring a case,” he said.
The New York Times reported that Obama did not believe Hillary’s personal email server was a national security problem. Although he admitted it was a mistake for her to use a private email account for official business, his conclusion was clear.
“This is not a situation in which America’s national security was endangered,” he said.
These comments have rankled the agency that has been working tirelessly to determine whether any information on Clinton’s server was compromised or if any charges will filed.
Although they spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly, several current and former law enforcement officials echoed Hosko’s remarks.
Hosko’s sentiments mirrored those expressed during the investigation of Gen. David Petraeus, in which Obama also made his (premature) opinion known. While the FBI concluded that Petraeus should face felony charges, the Justice Department, reportedly influenced by the president’s comments, overruled the FBI and instead charged him with only a misdemeanor.
History repeats itself and this situation is no different. Obama has yet again interjected politics into an investigation that should have no partisan boundaries.
Now that the media has been primed with his “opinion” of the situation, it may be only a matter of time before Hillary is let off the hook yet again.
